"The challenge of helping people find their dream property. That is what makes me passionate about Real Estate." - Leonie Constable

Partnership

We (John Wright and Leonie Constable) are excited to announce that we have formed a business partnership which brings together the combination of experience and knowledge from two quite different backgrounds.

Our families have known each other for 40 years (it is hard to write that – as neither of us look that old) so we are confident that this will be a positive move in this real estate market.

Leonie: Formerly a secondary school teacher, sports co-ordinator and coach. Leonie has many years experience with volunteer work in the community and sales in several different locations around the world. She is the proud mother of three gorgeous and successful young ladies.

John: Former Canterbury representative sportsman has been self employed for most of his life – starting and managing several property related companies in the north island before returning home to Christchurch with his family 6 years ago. Married nearly 30 years with two school aged children.

Government Announcement

At last we have a direction from the Government and we hope some relief for so many people who will now be able to make decisions for their future. The uncertainty has proven difficult for everyone including the real estate market in Christchurch.

Clearly this decision will impact on the north and western suburbs as ‘cashed up’ property buyers seek to relocate to other parts of the city. We expect strong demand for properties up to $500,000. If you are contemplating a move in the near future, we would love to hear from you.

Despite the pundit negativity, we at Harcourts continue to dominate the market and continue to grow our market share. This is clearly evident by the statistics that we have provided on the back page for you. These talk about market share and the amount of stock we carry.

The question we are asked constantly “ is it a good time to sell?” Our normal reply “ Have you seen the statistics lately as it makes miserable reading for some suburbs. For example the inner city only sold 8 last month and yet Ilam sold 25, Fendalton 26, Merivale / Strowan 36, Bryndwr/Burnside 33 and Avonhead 37 . So for the people who have been lucky enough not to have been affected by the earthquake the market is getting stronger. Having said this, even those houses with some damage are selling in these areas. The market hasn’t stopped. A lot is going to depend on where you are located in the city. Every suburb is different, every sale is different, and there are varying degrees of difficulty in both cases and this has never changed over the years. One thing that never alters is that professionals no matter what business they are in always do well.
